How do you design scrapbook pages?
Im making a scrapbook and I dont know how I should decorate/design it, or how to do it. I know i should get some patterned paper stickers ect, but how do ppl make them so good? Ive seen some with ribbons and everything and it looks really creative, but I cant seem to do something like that. http://www.clevelandwomen.com/images/books/scrapex.jpg
Well, one of the easies things to do is get some magazines and go through it and cut out things that look interesting to you – pictures, words, textures, backgrounds, colors. Then maybe look for things around your house – buttons, stamps, colored papers, tags, fabric scraps. It really is like a game putting the combinations together – and it’s by trial and error – sit with all your cutouts (you don’t have to cut out perfectly) and try arranging them on the page with the photos you want to put on there. Just keep playing until you have a design that you kind of like. Then you can recut any of the things to clean up edges (but you don’t have to), and start to glue them down. You might want to start with removable glue or tape. If you don’t like something you can remove it. Use angles, and don’t center anything – an easy way to understand composition is to divide your paper into nine spaces – 3 lines across and 3 lines upanddown. Use those lines and spaces as places to put photos and special designs. Once you’ve finished and you like it, you might want to add more glue or tape to make it more secure. Just have fun with it and don’t worry about being perfect. It’s a fun thing to do, and I guarantee you everyone does it by that method, that’s why they look nice, because they’ve tried things a lot.
